A Message From Ken Paves

I have supported organizations like Bright Faces for over 15 years. Left untreated, 1 in 10 children with a cleft lip or palate will die before their first birthday. This cause is very close to my heart because my nephew Ryan was one of these children. He was born with Trisomy and other birth defects which took his life at 15 months old. He is still my greatest role model and my inspiration to be of service to the world.

For Ryan and for my dear mother, who is one of the strongest people I know and who was born in the Philippines, I have pledged to help Bright Faces launch an inaugural mission to the Philippines this summer!

Bright Faces not only gives children a beautiful smile but also gives them the chance to live a normal life with the opportunity to fulfill their greatest potential.

In as little as 45 minutes Bright Faces can change a child’s future forever. Join me to make this mission a reality and transform lives! Together we can ensure that children in the Philippines and worldwide are given an opportunity to dream.

“I am proud to be on the Board of Directors of Bright Faces, giving life-changing and often saving surgeries to children in the most rural areas around the world. Join us and donate to my inaugural mission to the Philippines June 24-30!”

Reaching the Underserved

Worldwide, approximately 170,000 newborn children each year are afflicted with the debilitating condition of cleft lip or palate. These children live with life threatening malnutrition, dental, hearing and speech problems and are often ostracized and isolated. Many of these children live in remote areas that do not have access to care and not reached by other organizations.

Bright Faces provides complete medical and surgical care to patients suffering from cleft lip and palate in remote areas around the world. Our founding leadership has over 100 years combined experience in this field. We identify in-country experts who understand the cultural issues of these underserved areas, and we enhance the capacity of caregivers to expand into sustainable care networks.

Through our support of local and regional partners, Bright Faces is focused on meeting the surgical and medical needs of children born with cleft each and every day, as well as eliminating the backlog of patients still awaiting care – no matter where they live. This requires a multi-faceted approach that delivers both immediate and longer-term solutions.

The mission will take place this summer on the island of Luzon. With the help of our in-country partner and you, a skilled team of medical professionals will perform a full medical assessment on over 120 children and provide 75 life-changing surgeries.
