How could anyone be scared of embracing a sweet child such as Chay? His laugh is contagious, and his eyes are so bright.
But the 8-month-old boy was born with a cleft lip, and his health had suffered greatly. Chay’s mother couldn’t properly breastfeed him, and even the women in his village were afraid to hold him.
When Chay’s family heard that the Bright Faces medical team would be in Phnom Penh providing free surgeries, they traveled many hours by motorbike and then by foot just to get there. Just to help give Chay the opportunity for life-changing medical treatment.
Soon enough, Chay had won over the hearts of our doctors and nurses with his new smile and second chance at a better life.
